GTBKI: the Culture

The Ithaca Times just published their annual "The Best of Ithaca" issue and I thought I might share some of the content as it can be helpful in gaining an understanding of this peculiar little town. Particularly illuminating is a list of reader-submitted suggestions of slogans to replace the town motto "Ithaca is Gorges." Here are my favorites:

Ithaca - Good luck finding it
Ithaca is eclectic
Yes IthaCAN
Ithaca is Green (this one is repeated many times)
Cancer Sucks
My town is I-town
Hug a tree in Ithaca
Let's Ithacate
Take the vowels out and you get THC
Ithaca: still groovy
Ithaca: the tip of the middle finger (lake)
Ithaca is freezing
Ithace: stop whining it is only for four or five years
Don't Replace our Slogan!!!


and my absolute favorite:

Ithaca: 10 sq. miles surrounded by reality
